In 1950s Germany, tyrannical boss Gerlach spares affection for his secretary Tommy, until Tommy is misdiagnosed with a fatal illness. Believing he’ll die, Tommy blossoms, wins the boss’s daughter Gaby’s love, and is named junior partner.
