Before the war, there were 130 cottages in Wołowiec. Today, only eight remain. However, this dying village is not doomed to extinction—a completely new, ninth house is being built there. It is being constructed with the help of neighbors by a man known as "the pig," a traitor and a deserter. A traitor because he uprooted himself, a deserter because he abandoned his native Warsaw and moved to the countryside, claims poet Marcin Świetlicki. This is a misunderstanding, retorts the film's protagonist.
