Acting

Biography
Faith Domergue (born June 16, 1924 – November 4, 1999) was an American actress, primarily known for her roles in science fiction and B-movie films during the 1940s and 1950s. Faith Domergue was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and raised in California. Her early interest in acting led her to pursue a career in Hollywood, and she was discovered by producer Howard Hughes when she was just a teenager. He was impressed by her beauty and signed her to a contract, eventually launching her career in film. Domergue’s breakthrough role came in 1945 when she appeared in the film *The Strange Love of Martha Ivers*, though she didn't achieve major fame until she starred in *This Island Earth* (1955), a classic science fiction film where she played the role of a beautiful alien. The film became one of her best-known roles, and she was frequently cast in similar sci-fi movies, such as *It Came from Beneath the Sea* (1955). Aside from sci-fi films, Domergue also appeared in a number of dramas, crime films, and film noirs during the 1940s and 1950s, though she never reached the level of superstardom that some of her contemporaries did. She was a striking actress known for her exotic looks, which fit well with the roles she played. Domergue was known for her private nature, and she had several high-profile marriages. She was married four times in total, one of which was to actor and director *Louis A. L. Carr* (a marriage that ended in divorce). Her romantic life, as well as her career choices, kept her somewhat in the spotlight, but she eventually retired from acting in the 1960s. Faith Domergue lived out her later years quietly, far from the public eye. She passed away on November 4, 1999, at the age of 75, in Santa Barbara, California.
