Seerkatchi Pakhil Pandian Bhaskaran, popularly known as SPP Bhaskaran, is an Indian film director, writer, and festival organizer known for his contributions to both advertising and independent cinema. Bhaskaran made his debut short film Naanudaimai (2018), which got him nationwide accolades. With a career spanning several decades, he has directed over 100 television commercials, establishing himself as a seasoned visual storyteller with a strong foundation in creative direction. Bhaskaran transitioned into filmmaking with his debut short film Naanudaimai (Compunction) in 2018. The film gained international recognition and was officially selected at multiple prestigious film festivals, including the South Asia Short Film Festival (Kolkata), Top Shorts Online Film Festival (USA), Marin County International Festival of Short Film & Video, Move Me Productions Quarterly Online Film Festival (Belgium), Rieti e Sabina Film Festival (Italy), and the Switzerland International Film Festival. Following the success of his short film, he made his feature film debut with Insha Allah (2019). The film premiered internationally and was nominated at the Ciudad del Este Independent Film Festival in Paraguay. It was also officially selected at the Benin City Film Festival (Nigeria) and the Berlin Motion Picture Festival, further establishing his presence on the global stage. Beyond filmmaking, Bhaskaran has been actively involved in promoting cinema culture. As a festival organizer and contributor to film societies, he has played a key role in facilitating international exposure for regional cinema, particularly Tamil films. His efforts reflect a deep commitment to nurturing cinematic expression and expanding the global footprint of Indian storytelling.
