Biography
Aneesh Roy (born 2008) is an American filmmaker born in Hartford, CT. Inspired by Bollywood cinema, he developed a passion for film at a young age alongside his twin brother, Aneek. As children, the two independently wrote short stories before discovering a shared appreciation for auteur-driven cinema and cinematic storytelling during high school. After Aneek founded their high school's filmmaking club, the brothers began producing ambitious short films with limited resources. While Aneek primarily works as a writer and producer, Aneesh focuses on directing and editing, collaborating to bring their stories to life. In 2025, Aneesh attended the New York Film Academy, where he directed his first independent short film, One Can Win. The following summer, he directed The Briefcase Problem, a $10 independent short filmed almost entirely in his driveway with friends, serving as its director, editor, cinematographer, and producer. Aneesh is currently studying Media Arts Production at Emerson College. His filmmaking is driven by a passion for immersive storytelling, world-building, and creating cinematic experiences that transport audiences into distinct places and time periods. He hopes to continue creating films across both short and feature formats, regardless of scale.
