Biography
Harold Batista is an independent director and screenwriter. His current “Wish Trilogy” foregrounds the hopes of children against a tragedy in the lives of the adults around them. The first, Baby Brother, is currently screening at festivals. The second, Vamos, Gustavo is in post-production, and he is in development of his third short, Once, Upon Some Stars with screenwriter Zachary Tyler Vickers. His films has been shown at the Anthology Film Archives, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., among other venues. He currently teaches directing and scene analysis at Temple University, where he received his master’s degree as a Future Faculty Fellow and was the two-time recipient of the department’s Minnie & Ben Lazaroff Award for exceptional work and great promise in screenwriting. He formerly lived and worked as an artist and media producer in New York City, where he began his event streaming company Delphinidae Appearances. Harold received a full tuition scholarship to study fine arts at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and was twice invited to study at the Whitney Museum’s Independent Study Program, once in studio practice and once in critical studies. When he moved to Philadelphia, a well attended funeral was held by his friends to mourn the passing of his time in New York City.
