Biography
Maryam Esmaeili is an Iranian writer and filmmaker, whose work often explores themes of identity, loneliness, and human relationships, blending emotional realism with subtle layers of psychological depth. She has studied Cinema Directing at the London Film Academy and is also a graduate of the University of Art, Tehran, in Dramatic literature. She is currently completing the final semester of her Master's degree in Cinema. In 2024, she was awarded a scholarship to the Shanghai Theatre Academy, where she further developed her artistic practice and performed on stage in a Beijing Opera production in Shanghai. Throughout her career, she has written numerous screenplays, including "Once Again, Alice", directed by Enton Lazaj, which received the Screenplay Fund Award at the Balkan Gate Film Festival and was subsequently produced. Her other works include: Summer Triangle (2025) and The Burial of the Black Cat (2026). Summer Triangle has been selected at multiple international film festivals, receiving awards in both screenwriting and directing categories.
