Damien Welch is former Australian dancer. He studied at the school of his parents, Marilyn Jones and Garth Welch, who were both founding members of the Australian Ballet Company, then at the Australian Ballet School, graduating into The Australian Ballet in 1992.
He was promoted to principal in 1998, dancing across the classical and contemporary repertories. Between 2000 and 2002 he danced with Nederlands Dans Theater and he has additionally guested with National Ballet of Canada (2000) and Houston Ballet (2003 and 2006).
After retiring in 2008 Damien worked behind the scenes assisting to reproduce several pieces and guest perform in character roles.
