Biography
David (John Scott) Ward is an award-winning writer, director, editor and visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia. In a career spanning more than a decade in the arts, Ward has worked extensively as not only a writer-director across both stage and screen, but also as an actor, dancer, choreographer, photographer and designer. This versatility has allowed him to transfer his talents across numerous mediums and collaborators, including The Australian Ballet, Orchestra Victoria, Opera Australia, Qantas, ABC and Disney, just to name a few. His film credits as writer-director include his debut feature Lenore and the acclaimed short films Womb (2013) and Dorothy (2014)—both of which received the ATOM Award for Best Experimental Film in simultaneous years—as well as countless documentaries, commercials and music videos for a diverse range of collaborators and artists from Ben Folds and Hoodlem to Deborah Cheetham and David Hallberg. His theatre credits as a director, designer and/or choreographer include The Shape of Things (2014), High Fidelity (2014), The Birds (2015), Gruesome Playground Injuries (2015) and When the Rain Stops Falling (2017).
