Biography
Hiroshi Hamasaki (浜崎 博嗣, Hiroshi Hamasaki, born December 30, 1959) is an animator, character designer, and anime director from Fukuoka, Japan. After finishing high school, he joined the training program of Tatsunoko Production, where he began his career as an animator. His early work included animation duties on Gatchaman II and several other series from the early 1980s. By the mid‑1980s he had moved into higher‑level roles such as animation director and character designer on titles like Alpen Rose and Outlanders. He later left Tatsunoko and worked mainly with Madhouse, contributing animation to many of the studio's productions. From the 1990s onward he expanded into storyboarding and direction. His directorial debut came in 2003 with Texhnolyze, followed by directing or supervising roles on Paranoia Agent, BECK, Shigurui, Steins;Gate, Terra Formars, Orange, and Blade of the Immortal. Throughout his career he has alternated between animation, storyboarding, and directing across TV, film, and OVA projects, establishing himself as a versatile figure in the anime industry.
