Emily Yaceni Mazariegos León, originally from Puerto Barrios, Izabal, and currently residing in Guatemala City, is a filmmaker passionate about visual art and cinematic storytelling. Since 2021, she has found in cinema a powerful tool to explore the complexity of the human condition, particularly through the genres of crime, drama, and suspense. Emily is in her final year of the Bachelor's degree in Film, Visual Arts, and Entrepreneurship at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, an institution where she has developed her passion for art direction, makeup, costume design, and film production. Additionally, she has complemented her education with studies in digital marketing and e-commerce strategies, aiming to integrate the power of storytelling with the advertising field. During her university career, she has worked on various film projects such as: - To Hell and Back, Guatemala (2,022) -Monarca, Guatemala (2,023) - Nóstos, Guatemala (2,023) - El Silencio del Pa’bank Guatemala (2,024) - Mañana será otro día, Guatemala (2,024) - Al filo del cielo, Guatemala (2,025) - Los de la lucha, Guatemala (2,025) She has stood out mainly in the art department, makeup, and sound direction. Her ability to conceptualize and execute aesthetic proposals has enriched the visual impact of her projects. She has also collaborated on advertising productions for brands like Dorada Ice, Distefano, and the beverage Karma. Ice, Distefano y la bebida Karma. Her most notable project to date is Briella, a short film that explores the loss of innocence as a result of violence in Guatemala and other Latin American countries. Briella tells the story of a young girl facing the tragedy of her parents' kidnapping, her uncle's murder, and the process of adapting to a solitary and violent reality. Emily is the founder of Emmarea Studios, a creative space where she brings her artistic vision to life in audiovisual and photographic projects. Additionally, her interest in digital marketing has led her to strengthen her presence on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch, where she shares creative and personal content under the name "emmaltesse". .
