Marky Hugh is a Filipino concert producer and filmmaker with a passion for telling powerful, human-centered stories across genres. Known for his work in both the entertainment and film industries, Marky has quickly become a notable name in independent filmmaking.
In 2023, he produced his debut short horror film Idlip in Kuwait, which was later screened in Brisbane, Australia, showcasing his ability to craft chilling and immersive narratives. Marky's first full-length movie, The Last Promise, tells the poignant true story of overseas Filipino workers based in Kuwait. The film received widespread recognition and was screened at prominent locations, including Yorkdale Cineplex and Scarborough Town Centre Cineplex in Canada, as well as The First Islatel Hotel in the Philippines and DMI Studio in Singapore.
Marky continued to explore important social themes with his 2024 projects, Shadows of the Soul, a short film about depression and anxiety, which was screened at Xinflix Media, alongside his comedy/drama short film The Good Marites. Both films reflect his versatility as a filmmaker, tackling heavy emotional subjects while still finding space for humor and connection.
Looking ahead, Marky is set to make his mark with his first full-length film screenplay and directorial debut, Silent Battles. Dedicated to his mother and others who face their own struggles, the film promises to be a deeply personal and moving exploration of resilience.
