Biography
Anurag Mandal (born 25th April 1977) is an Indian actor and film producer known for his work in Bengali cinema, including Bibaho Songshoy (2025), Andhakarer Opare (2025), The Message (2025), and Varatiya (2025). His entry into the film industry began as a producer, creating opportunities for himself when time did not permit starting from the ground up as an actor. Born into a Zamindar family in Murshidabad, West Bengal, he is the son of Sri Amar Kumar Mandal, an engineer in the Central Government service. Due to his father’s transferable job, Mandal spent his childhood across various parts of India, which nurtured his exposure to diverse cultures and a deep appreciation for the arts. Mandal initially pursued textile engineering under family influence and went on to have a successful 25-year career in the fashion and apparel industry. However, driven by his lifelong passion for acting and performance, he transitioned into cinema. He made his mark with critically and commercially recognized works and has acted in notable films such as Varatiya, HMM (Hug Me More), and Andhakarer Opare, Gulmohammad among others. Following his early successes, Mandal began receiving offers from other producers, leading to several successful collaborations as both actor and producer. In addition to his growing filmography, Mandal is regarded for his refined screen presence and commitment to quality storytelling. His journey, from a thriving career in the apparel sector to becoming a celebrated figure in Bengali cinema, stands as a testament to determination and passion.
