Biography
Rodolfo Graziano Cirillo (also known as Rodolfo Graziano) is an Italian-Venezuelan writer, filmmaker, theater and television director and producer, and multimedia artist based in Mexico City. He has worked across film, television, theater, video art, photography, immersive experiences and transmedia. He began his career writing film criticism for leading Venezuelan newspapers and magazines, including El Nacional, El Universal, El Diario de Caracas and Encuadre. His interview book Amos de la noche was published by Editorial Planeta in 1994. In 2023, he published his first novel, Mi vida en 30 nombres. His audiovisual work, including short films, video art and medium-length films, has been selected for international festivals including the Hamburg International Film Festival, Strasbourg International Film Festival, Bogotá Film Festival and ZINEBI – International Festival of Documentary and Short Film of Bilbao. His short film Alirio (1985) received awards for Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography at the Mérida Film Festival. In 2012, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from FESTIDVQ for his career as a filmmaker. His feature debut, Analema, received multiple international selections and awards in 2023–2024, including Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay at the Berlin Indie Film Festival, Gold Award for Narrative Feature Drama at the Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards & Festival, Best Director at the San Diego Independent Cinema Awards, and Best Actor, Best Cinematography and Best Narrative Feature at the Art Film Spirit Awards. The film was also an Official Selection at the Madrid International Film Festival in 2024. His short film Vapor, one of the five films comprising Tango Amor, was an Official Selection at Festival Mix México, Cine y Diversidad Sexual. Graziano has also worked extensively in the performing arts, creating multimedia installations and video design for contemporary dance and opera, as well as directing and producing his own theatrical works. His multimedia art has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Venezuela, the United States, Colombia, the United Kingdom and Spain.
