Angelika Maldonado is a labor organizer and former Amazon warehouse worker who became a prominent leader of the Amazon Labor Union (ALU) campaign at Amazon’s JFK8 fulfillment center in Staten Island, New York.
She served as chairwoman of the ALU Workers Committee and helped organize coworkers during the successful 2022 union drive. At the time, she was reported as a 27-year-old packer. Maldonado and other rank-and-file organizers built support through workplace conversations, distributing union materials, organizing break-room outreach, and countering Amazon’s anti-union campaign. The JFK8 vote resulted in 2,654 workers voting for the union and 2,131 against.
Maldonado described the campaign as an intensive effort: organizers were present at the warehouse nearly every day, spoke with workers during breaks and shift changes, and used visible symbols such as union shirts and lanyards to demonstrate support. She later spoke about the ALU’s organizing experience to other labor campaigns, including Delta flight-attendant organizers.
She was also featured in Union, a documentary about the creation of the Amazon Labor Union, directed by Stephen Maing and Brett Story.
