Amanda Lau was born in Hong Kong. She began acting at age 15 and started filmmaking the following year. She has directed, written, and starred in the short film The Gift, which won the Champion and the Best Acting Award in the 9th Mini-movie Competition in 2023. She was the youngest contestant of the TVB reality show, Tristar Academy.
