His debut short film Neon Purple premiered at the Guadalajara International Film Festival in the 'Made in Jalisco' section. This project, along with his second short film Agaves at Dawn, which was produced in just 48 hours for the Expresso Tequila Rally at the Tequila International Film Festival, demonstrates his ability to portray complex emotions on screen. Both short films are notable for their use of visual contrasts; in Neon Purple, Lex employs neon lights and dark backgrounds to create a dramatic interplay of lights and shadows, while in Agaves at Dawn, he adapts this aesthetic to a rural context, using warm and enveloping tones, with backlighting that enhances the vibrant colors of the landscape.
