Biography
Sven Christer Jonas von Essen, born April 24, 1991 in Skövde Parish, Skaraborg County, is a Swedish memory artist. He has participated in several memory competitions and became world champion in memory in 2013 and 2014. The beginning of his competition career is described in the documentary film "Sweden's coolest national team", which was first broadcast on SVT and then bought by TV4. He participated in TV4's Talang in the spring of 2018. In his audition, he memorized the first names of all 500 people in the audience, which led to David Batra giving him his golden buzzer and thus sending him directly to the final. In spring 2020, he took part in SVT's Smartare än en femteklassare, where he was a celebrity contestant who had to donate the money he won to charity. On April 24, 2023, von Essen participated in Jeopardy on Channel 5, where he beat Hanna Dorsin and Anna Charlotta Gunnarson in the final and was named Grand Master. He chose to donate the winnings of 51,600 SEK to the organization MSF. Jeopardy chose to add 100,000 SEK over the actual winnings, which will also be donated to the organization.
