Sebastian Bocanegra was born in Trujillo, a coastal town eight hours north of Lima, Perú’s capital. He discovered filmmaking through frequent movie outings with his parents, where he fell in love with the endless worlds cinema could open up. From a young age, Sebastian knew he wanted to become a storyteller.
At 17, he began his studies in Liberal Arts at Queens College in New York, USA. He later graduated with a degree in Communications from the Universidad de Lima, where he developed his skills as a director, cinematographer, and writer.
In 2022, he co-founded Oss, a production company born from collaboration with university classmates. Known for both commercial work and original content, Oss has steadily grown over the past three years, building a reputation in the Peruvian market and working with major brands such as LEN, BBVA, and Puma.
Sebastian’s short film Amnesia earned him Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Short Film at UL’s Corto de Boleto 2024. In previous editions of the same festival, he also received awards for Best Script and Best Cinematography. His directorial debut La Cabaña was selected for the Al Este International Film Festival, one of the most recognized festivals in Perú.
For Sebastian, filmmaking is first and foremost a collaborative process — one built on trust, creative exchange, and shared vision. Through every project, he seeks to create spaces where both the story and the team can thrive.
