Biography
Jacquelyn Garcia is a filmmaker from Houston, Texas. Specializing in gothic aesthetic, her films always seem to carry an endearing and relatable sense of character. Starting off with her first ever short film, a clay stop-motion animated piece titled "Winona's Monster", which tells the story of a girl and her personal monster that follows her to school. Jacquelyn quickly established her stylings and sensibilities. "Winona's Monster" was awarded Best Film at the Hogg Foundation Short Film Competition in 2022 and made it's Houston premiere in 2025. Following "Winona's Monster" she co-directed a project with her partner and long-time collaborator Eli Fischer. The two of them created the short film "Apollo: The Space Dog" which was created for the NASA Cinespace Film Competition. The film tells the story of a dog that attempts to break the monotony of his life by venturing into space. The film premiered in Houston at the River Oaks Theater in 2024. In addition to her directing work, she has also been a cinematographer and producer on the concert film "Heart of a Bull" and has done model work for the award winning sci-fi short film "Liv" in addition to acting work on the sci-fi short "The Chief, The Warrior, and the Renegade". She is currently working on developing her first live action short, as well as continuing to collaborate with other local filmmakers.
