Biography
Travis Burgess is an award-winning director, writer, and producer with over 15 years of experience in narrative features and documentaries. Travis produced on The Preppie Connection, which IFC Films distributed. His passion for storytelling took him to Angola, Africa, where he produced the feature-length documentary Death Metal Angola, which premiered at DOC NYC and went on to screen at over sixty festivals worldwide. In 2023, Travis made his directorial debut with Hayseed, released theatrically by Good Deed Entertainment, and is now streaming on Apple TV, Prime, Tubi, and many other platforms. His last short, The Silver Cord (2025), won 'Best of Fest' at three festivals last fall, including Palm Screams Film Festival. As a writer, Travis has gained significant recognition. He was named one of the “Top 50 Screenwriters of the Year” by the ISA Fast Track Fellowship, a finalist in Stage32’s “New Blood” competition, and awarded ‘Best Writer’ at New York’s Chain Film Festival. His scripts have earned placements on The Black List and were finalists at prestigious festivals such as Austin, Atlanta, Rhode Island, and New Orleans.
