Biography
Tobias Vees, born in Vienna with Hungarian roots, is a writer-director, script consultant, and producer working internationally. ​​ While completing his BA in German Philology at the University of Vienna in 2018 and his MA in Screenwriting at the London Film School in 2021, Tobias wrote, directed, and produced several short films that were showcased at film festivals around the globe. Since his graduation, he has worked as a ghostwriter & script doctor on award-winning feature films produced in the UK, featuring named cast. 2024 his project MAHR won the Campfire Tales Award at the SLASH Film Festival. His first official feature film writing credit followed in 2026 with SESSIONS. Together with his writing partner Stefan Zeiler, Tobias is part of the HEAR US MOVE collective, which focuses on European genre stories with thematic depth. In addition to his creative work, Tobias is part of the organising team behind the newly founded ClimateShorts film festival and teaches filmmaking to children as well as film education at university level. He also produced and edited the popular The Filmmaker’s Podcast for over four years and continues to appear as a co-host.
