Nishaant Singh Bhinder is a young director and screenwriter from Chandigarh, India. His early breakthrough came with Pinds of Punjab (2020), a situational crime thriller set in rural Punjab, which garnered a large audience and received widespread appreciation upon its digital release.
His most critically recognized work, which gained strong recognition on the festival circuit, is Ryder: Queen of F**king Everything* (2021). Having its Irish premiere at the GAZE International Film Festival, followed by international screenings at the Four River Film Festival (Karlovac), Scottish Queer International Film Festival, and Copenhagen Underground Film Festival, before having its Indian premiere and becoming a finalist at the Oscar-qualifying Bengaluru International Short Film Festival.
This was followed by Abstract Painting (2025), a Dublin-set crime drama that premiered at the Louth International Film Festival and was subsequently screened at the Waterford International Film Festival. Most recently, he completed an official adaptation of a short story by acclaimed Punjabi writer Baldev Singh Sadaknama, based on his collection Hanere Savere, which is set to enter the festival circuit in 2026.
Blending realism with surrealist ideas, Nishaant set up his independent production company Tranza Studios in 2017, seeking to push the boundaries of narrative filmmaking and bring fresh and innovative perspectives to the screen. In 2019, he went on to pursue a BA in Film & TV Production at Griffith College Dublin, where he produced five more short films in Ireland, further honing his craft in an international setting.
