He was son of Mian Shafiq - the Hamrahi fame producer and brother of two other flop heroes - Khalid and Javed. He was first hero in two films Adalat (1968) and Laila Majnu (1973). He directed and played the title role in film Ghazi Ilamuddin Shaheed (1978). He also directed and played supporting roles in some other films.
