Biography
Aamir Raza Husain is an Indian theatre director, producer, actor, and writer, widely regarded as a leading figure in contemporary English-language theatre in India. He is known for staging large-scale theatrical productions and for introducing classical and international works to Indian audiences with high production values. He is the founder of Stellar Productions, a theatre company responsible for numerous acclaimed stage productions, including adaptations of works by William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, and Agatha Christie. His Shakespearean productions—such as Othello, Macbeth, and King Lear—have been performed extensively across India and internationally. In addition to theatre, Husain has appeared in Indian films and television series, typically in character roles, complementing his primary work on stage. In recognition of his contribution to theatre, Aamir Raza Husain was awarded the Padma Shri in 2001, one of India’s highest civilian honours.
