Viknesh is the founder of San Francisco film production company, A Viknesh Island Production, formed in 2014, and has been writing, producing, and directing short films and feature-length films since 2000. Having graduated from a polytechnic with an engineering diploma, Viknesh educated himself on filmmaking by reading, watching behind the scene videos, enrolling in workshops and working on numerous sets as a production assistant, all done while serving in the Republic of Singapore Navy as a Naval Combat Systems Specialist. In 2008, after completing his contract with the Navy, he pursued a Bachelor's degree in film production.
In 2013, he graduated from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Motion Picture and Television Production. During his time at the Academy, he produced and directed a number of short films, music videos and commercials. Released in 2012, he produced and directed his first feature film, True Love. Shot entirely in his native homeland Singapore, True Love is a classic American noir story about betrayal and love.
