Ilya Belostotsky was born on August 28th, 1973 in Chelyabinsk, in the family of a doctor and an economist. In 1991 he entered Medical Academy and studied medicine for 4 years. Later he initiated a transfer to local College of Arts, where he studied directing for 4 years. He also worked on local TV, where he created a lot of children programs. In the year 2004 he graduated from VGIK (directing faculty, V. Khotinenko and V. Fenchenko's workshop). Ilya Belostotsky supposes film-making for kids and youth being his "primary mission": more than 10 years he directs “Eralash”, the most popular Russian children’s sketchcom series, and produces his own projects as well. His own projects are awarded by prizes of national and international film festivals. Ilya Belostotsky is a long-time member of the Russian Film Directors' Guild.
