Biography
He is an independent Palestinian filmmaker, editor, and producer based in Syria, born in 1987. Initially trained in engineering with a specialization in decoration and interior design, he transitioned to cinema through extensive workshops and practical experience. His first feature documentary, My Memory is Full of Ghosts 2024, received a Special Mention at Visions du Réel and won Best Arab Documentary at the El-Gouna Film Festival. In 2026, he participated in Berlinale Talents Program during Berlin International Film Festival. Zawahri has also directed the short fiction film An Ordinary Day 2020 and the short documentary Summer, City and Camera 2022. Since 2023, he has been teaching cinema at the High Institute of Dramatic Arts in the Department of Theater Studies. He is currently working on his second feature documentary, Their Ghosts Never Left My Home "Disappeared" , which was recently selected as a spotlight project at Marché du Film in Cannes film festival. And selected for Camera Liber program which is 6 month residency at cite international des art in Paris 2026.
