Biography
Alberte Aveline, born in September 1939 in the former French department of Constantine, was a French actress whose career was closely tied to the Comédie‑Française. Trained at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, she earned a first prize in modern comedy and a second prize in classical comedy, quickly establishing herself as a versatile performer. She joined the Comédie‑Française as a pensionnaire in 1966 and became its 480th sociétaire in 1989, dedicating more than three decades to the institution. On stage, she embraced a wide range of roles, from Racine to Feydeau, from Brecht to Dostoevsky, portraying both tragic heroines and comic characters with equal finesse. She also appeared on television, notably in Schulmeister, espion de l’empereur, where she played Madame d’Aran. After retiring in 2003, she devoted herself to teaching drama. Married to actor René Arrieu from 1967 to 1978, Alberte Aveline passed away on 21 December 2018 in Paris, remembered as a dedicated, discreet, and deeply committed figure of the French stage.
