Biography
Violet Du Feng is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning documentary filmmaker born and raised in Shanghai and now based in New York. She began her career as a co-producer on Nanking (2007), which won a Sundance Special Jury Award and became the highest-grossing documentary in China's history. She went on to direct and produce Hidden Letters (2022), an Oscar-shortlisted, Emmy- and Peabody-nominated film that premiered at Tribeca and won prizes at more than a dozen international festivals, and The Dating Game (2025), which premiered in Sundance's World Cinema Documentary Competition. Her other producing credits include Singing in the Wilderness, Confucian Dream, and Please Remember Me. She is a 2025 Guggenheim Fellow, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Documentary Branch, and an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Journalism School.
