Ali Shahab (born September 22, 1941 – died December 25, 2018) was a prominent Indonesian film director, screenwriter, journalist, and novelist. He was a pioneering figure in the Indonesian entertainment industry, best known for directing the classic horror film Beranak dalam Kubur (1971), which starred the legendary Suzzanna. His extensive filmography includes other notable titles such as Bumi Makin Panas (1973), Gadis Bionik (1982), and Manusia Enam Juta Dolar (1981). Beyond cinema, he achieved significant success in television with the hit 1980s series Rumah Masa Depan. He was also the younger brother of the renowned cultural observer Alwi Shahab.
