She was the World Champion in the 3,000 meters (Track and Field) and an Olympian in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. She was nominated for the 2012 New Jersey Hall of Fame for her contributions to Sports. She was nominated for a 2013 New Jersey Hall of Fame for Sports. She lives with her family which includes three dogs and five cats in Eugene, Oregon. [July 2008] She was nominated for the 2017 New Jersey Hall of Fame in the Sports category.
