Biography
Lydia Fotopoulou (Kavala, 22 June 1956) is a Greek actress. She was born on 22 June 1956 in Kavala, where she is from, and spent her childhood in Thessaloniki. After finishing school, she began her studies at the Drama School of the State Theatre of Northern Greece. She began her career in theatre in the early 1980s. Her first collaboration was with Andreas Voutsinas. Collaborations with directors Minos Volanakis, Giorgos Vouros and others followed. She first appeared on television in 1991, taking part in the cast of the Scandinavian series Amforans gata, which was filmed in Greece, in a small role. In 1993, she collaborated for the first time with the creator and director Panos Kokkinopoulos in the series of independent episodes of ANT1 Anatomy of a Crime. There that year she starred in the episode "A Simple Family Story" while "Relationships of Love" followed. In the 1995-1996 season, she played Maria in the period series The Straw Hats, based on the novel of the same name. In 1998, she made a guest appearance in the police series Night Bulletin. In the period 2002-2003, she was the narrator in the NET documentary Epoches kai Ssgabries. In the 2007-2008 season, she had one of the main roles in the Alpha TV period series To Deka, directed by Pigi Dimitrakopoulou. In 2015, she returned to television, collaborating with Panos Kokkinopoulos in the story "Purification" of the police series 10th Order.[5] In 2019, she collaborated again with the same director in the series U Fonefesis and the episode "Hyperetria". From October 2020 to 2022, she starred in the ERT1 family comedy series I tourta tis mamas, by Apostolou and Rigas, playing the eccentric grandmother of the Marilou Sekeri family.[6] In 2023, she played Yvonne in the ERT1 series Tritos Orofos. In the 2024-25 season, she starred in the series "VIP Kala Geramata" in the role of Loukia Partheniou, on the ANT1 channel. She made her film debut in 1987 in the short film Atreides. Her next film appearance was in 2000 in the film Agripnia.[7] In 2010, she was part of the cast of Vassilis Tselemegos' drama film Dangerous Cooking. In 2017, she starred in the period drama Polyxena: A Story from the City.
