Josef Leberer is an Austrian physiotherapist renowned for his extensive career in Formula 1, spanning over 35 years. He began his F1 journey in 1988 with McLaren, working closely with legendary drivers such as Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Leberer was instrumental in enhancing drivers' physical and mental preparation, contributing to their on-track performance. His collaboration with Senna was particularly notable; their professional relationship evolved into a deep friendship, with Leberer accompanying Senna to Williams in 1994. After Senna's passing, Leberer joined Sauber Motorsport in 1997, where he continued to support drivers like Kimi Räikkönen, Sebastian Vettel, and Felipe Nasr. In November 2023, Leberer announced his retirement from his active role, transitioning to serve as Sauber Motorsport's ambassador starting January 2024.
