Biography
Maite Jáuregui was born in Los Angeles, California, to a creative family of storytellers & musicians and a few years later they all moved to Madrid, Spain, where she soon began playing violin, dancing flamenco & taking acting classes. Her first role in the big screen came with the multi-awarded film Planta 4 (The 4th Floor), directed by Antonio Mercero (Boca Boca producciones). She worked in several TV series such as 'Amar en tiempos revueltos' (TVE1), 'El Comisario' (Tele5), 'Abuela de Verano' (TVE1) or '18 RDC' (Antena 3), where she played the leading role (a pop singer) and for which she recorded an album that gave music to the series. In 2010 she moved to London after being accepted to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) and continued her professional career in the UK. Maite has since then played multiple roles in various stage productions such as 'Don Quixote' (Warehouse Theatre, Croydon), Antigone/Twin Peaks (Union Theatre, Liverpool), The House of Bernarda Alba, The Reality (for which she was nominated for Performing Artist of the Year by the LUKAS awards 2019) and Blood Wedding (Cervantes Theatre), as well as in Melissa-Kelly Franklin’s We’ll Dance on the Ash of the Apocalypse (Park Theatre) amongst others. In February 2023 she travelled to Madrid to work on a documentary theatre piece called El Muro which was performed at Teatro de La Abadía. She recently played the role of Vera in the 2nd season of the BAFTA nominated Channel 4 series Flowers and she also recorded violins for the series’ soundtrack. In 2020 she participated in the Second Season of BBC1 The Mallorca Files, and in November 2022 she appeared in CBS’ FBI:International. She’s worked in numerous films & short films, including 'Another Love', a multi-awarded film directed by Victor Perez (Masked Frame Pictures) and Sin Conexión, for which she won Best Actress at ALCURT Film Festival 2019. In the summer of 2020 and against all odds, she filmed LA MASA, a shortfilm produced by Serendipity Pictures LTD and directed by Ella Kirby, which Maite wrote and also performs in. It won multiple awards and nominations in various international Film Festivals and will be available to watch on Omeleto from May 31st 2023. She co-created a one-woman show 'UNA' with Pau Aran Gimeno (member of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch since 2006) and funded by Arts Council England which premiered in Barcelona's Sala Ivanow, with original music written by Tom Sochas, and costume & set design by Ana Ines Jabares Pita
