Biography
Czomba Imre is a Hungarian–American film and theater composer, orchestrator, songwriter, and pianist. He has been an active figure in both the Hungarian and international music scenes since 1993. He began his career as a theater and session musician, performing with the orchestras of the Madách Theatre and Rock Theatre. He later became the longtime keyboardist for influential artists such as Ákos, Presser Gábor, and Zorán, with whom he collaborated for more than two decades. By the early 2000s, he had become one of the defining creative forces in Hungarian popular music, working as a composer, producer, and session musician with nearly every major artist of the era. His notable works include songs written for Zsuzsa Cserháti, music for the 2008 and 2009 Budapest fireworks displays, and compositions for international sporting events. Since 2001, he has served as the resident composer for the ExperiDance Company, and has also written music for dance and musical theater productions at institutions including the Pesti Theatre and Vígszínház. His works have been successfully performed on prestigious stages across Europe and Asia. In parallel, he has maintained an active career as a composer and music producer for film and television. In 2012, he studied film scoring at UCLA in Los Angeles, and in 2015, he relocated to the United States, where he continues to work as a composer for film and television. He maintains a close professional collaboration with multi Grammy Award–winning producer Walter Afanasieff, working on projects featuring global artists such as Babyface, Pentatonix, Thalía, Loren Allred, Kenny G, and Yvonne Catterfeld. He is also active as a mentor within the ISINA Academy, where he supports emerging talent alongside industry figures including Walter Afanasieff, Robin Thicke, Chris Lord-Alge, Greg Phillinganes, Richard Marx, Taika Waititi, and Michael Bolton. Czomba is an active voting member of the Television Academy, the Recording Academy, and the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL).
