Biography
Nasrullah (4 December 1962 – 17 March 2025), better known as Mat Solar, was an Indonesian actor, comedian, and politician. He gained public recognition for starring in the TV series Bajaj Bajuri and Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the Series. Mat Solar got his stage name while playing the character of Mat Solar, the main role in Teater Mama, a comedy theater program frequently aired on TVRI between 1978 and 1982. He started his career in this Betawi comedy theater while still i jior high school. Initially, in 1976, Teater Mama was just a gathering place for teengererformed at local independence celebrations or school events. However, it later became known as one of the most 'bold' theaters due to its criticism of the ruling New Order government at the time. After disappearing from TVRI for several years, Teater Mama attempted a comeback in 1990 but was discontinued due to a lack of audience interest. In broadcasting, Mat Solar served as Creative Manager at SK Radio from 1986 to 1988. He later became Production Manager at Bens Radio until 1990 and then Studio Head at CBB Radio until 1992. Following this, Mat Solar seemed to disappear from the entertainment industry. However, he remained active, both in politics and acting in supporting roles in several soap operas, including Senggal-Senggol (1996) on RCTI, Sorga di Bawah Telapak Kaki Ibu (SCTV), Raja Sawer (ANTV), and Luv (RCTI). Additionally, he was involved in Radio Suara Kejayaan (1986) and later became a production manager at Bens Radio (1990). Mat Solar’s name resurfaced with the success of Bajaj Bajuri. The idea for the series came from Hardi, Syarifuddin Jaluski, and Nasrullah, who wanted to create a show centered around bajaj (three-wheeled taxis). Before becoming Bajaj Bajuri, the series was initially titled Bajaj Bang Mamat. The character Bajuri, played by Mat Solar, was first introduced in his debut film, Mendung Tak Selamanya Kelabu (1982). Mat Solar passed away on 17 March 2025 at Pondok Indah Hospital. He was buried the following day at TPU Haji Daiman in Cimanggis, Ciputat, South Tangerang.
