Biography
Tedros "Teddy" Teclebrhan (born September 1, 1983, in Asmara, Eritrea) is a German-Eritrean comedian, actor, musician, musical theater performer, and web video producer. He rose to fame under his stage name, Teddy Comedy. The trademark of his "ethno-comedy" style is a blend of the Swabian dialect and *Kiezdeutsch* (urban vernacular). Teclebrhan was born in Asmara as the youngest of three sons. When he was seven months old, his mother fled with him and his siblings to Germany as a result of the Eritrean War of Independence. He grew up in Belsen, a district of Mössingen near Tübingen. After completing his alternative civilian service, he undertook an acting course in 2008 at the international acting academy CreArte in Stuttgart. Teclebrhan began taking on his first television roles in 2009. He appeared in the series *Laible und Frisch*, among others, as well as in *Kommissar Stolberg*. Also in 2009, he made his musical theater debut in *Hairspray*, in which he played the role of Seaweed J. Stubbs. He gained wider recognition in 2011 through a YouTube video and appearances on the show *TV total*. That same year, he won the *TVLab* competition on the channel ZDFneo. In 2012, he launched his own show, *Teddy’s Show*, in which he portrays various fictional characters such as Antoine Burtz, Percy, and Carlos. Since 2012, Teclebrhan has been touring Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with his live stage shows. In the film *Halbe Brüder*, he played a leading role alongside Fahri Yardım and Sido. In 2019, he co-hosted the German Film Awards (*Deutscher Filmpreis*) together with Désirée Nosbusch. He also hosted the ProSieben show *1:30* and served as a member of the jury for the program *Famemaker*. Since 2011, Teclebrhan has been publishing videos on his YouTube channel, which has garnered over 200 million views. Among his most well-known videos is the "Integration Test Survey." In 2020, he released the music video *Deutschland isch stabil*. Teclebrhan also stars in the Prime Original film *The Prototype*, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
