Biography
Javier Corcuera (Lima, 10/03/1967) is a director and screenwriter. He holds a degree in Image Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. He is a founding member of DOCMA and co-director of the Sahara Film Festival. His films include “The Back of the World,” which presents three stories about human rights violations in the US, Turkey, and Peru, and which won the International Critics' Award at the San Sebastián Film Festival; “Winter in Baghdad,” filmed during the US occupation of Iraq, winner at the Málaga Film Festival and Best Documentary Film at the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival; “The Guerrilla of Memory,” a film that portrays a forgotten part of Spanish history: that of those who refused to accept defeat after the Civil War and continued fighting against Franco in the mountains of Spain; and “Invisibles,” a collaborative film that won the Goya Award from the Spanish Film Academy for Best Documentary Film. or “I’m still here – Kachkaniraqmi”, a film that travels through the worlds of Peru through the lives of its musicians.
