Biography
Pornographer Carter Stevens (born Malcom Stephen Worob) rates highly as one of the true founding fathers of 1970s American East Coast adult cinema. He grew up in the suburbs in the 1950s, and studied Photographic Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He first became interested in making feature films while working as a supervisor at a New York City movie lab. Stevens made his film debut with the tongue-in-cheek romp The Collegiates (1973) in 1972. A majority of his 1970s porno features tend to be lighthearted and mildly comic in tone, while his 1980s films are often darker and more serious. In addition to being a director and producer he acted in numerous X-rated pictures, using the alias Steven Mitchell; he was usually partnered with actress Marlene Willoughby. Among the famous hardcore thespians he worked with during his career are Serena, Jamie Gillis, Harry Reems, Georgina Spelvin, Eric Edwards, Marc Stevens, and Robert Kerman. Stevens reinvented himself in the early 1980s as the editor/publisher of "The S&M News," which was the third-largest fetish paper in America. He largely retired from the porn industry in the late 1990s. More recently he did interviews and commentaries on DVD releases of his movies. He was given a lifetime achievement award in directing porno films from the Free Speech Coalition in 2004, and was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame on January 10, 2009. - IMDb mini biography by: woodyanders
