When Indi, a disillusioned fish store employee, meets Sparrow, an eleven-year-old orphaned pirate headed to the sea, the two set off on a small adventure together. Indi gets swept up in the idea of leaving it all behind, but along the way, she slowly finds herself reconnecting with a part of herself she lost. As their adventure unfolds, Indi is forced to reckon with the loss of her dad, the guilt she carries over being absent from his life, and the disappointments that have left her adrift. While Sparrow begins to confront her fear of growing up, convinced that being a grown-up means always being tired and sad. Together, they discover the importance of connection and that being brave doesn’t mean facing life alone.
