For many displaced communities, home becomes unembodied: something felt, remembered, or imagined. In moments of rupture, when we’re separated from the land of our birth, translating and preserving memory becomes our saving grace. Through Meherunnisa Asad’s profound stonework at Studio Lel in collaboration with displaced Afghan artisans, we witness how art becomes an act of remembrance; a way of staying rooted. Belonging is reimagined in texture and form.
