After struggling with her mothers alcoholism, Kate attends Alanon meetings to try and mend already fractured relationship with her mum. In an act of escape, Kate attends a friends house party and takes a pill that is given to her. She blacks out and is sexually assaulted and finds herself searching for answers. When all fails she returns to the meetings, ready to speak.
