Ernst Lange has recently inherited his deceased father's business. Ernst lives a quiet life. But one evening he walks into a restaurant and meet the cabaret artist Marcella. He falls in love.

Councilor Sven Ersson and farmer Jan Hansson have been bitter enemies for several years. Sven's neighbour Ola in Gyllby has a daughter Britta, the perfect partner for Sven's son Erik. But Erik only has eyes for Anna, the daughter of Jan Hansson. Unaware of the hostility between the families, Erik has asked Anna to marry him.

Count von Löwenstein shows Marquis Al Fresco his will, where he bequeaths 1 billion to his daughter Donna Elvira, if she marries the Marquis. The evil Marquis visits Saïd Ali Mohammed, Doctor of Toxicology, where he buys a bottle of poison. When the Count and the Marquis walk through a wood, two robbers kill them. The robbers find the bottle, drink the poison and die.
