This film made by a Palestinian-Israeli collective shows the destruction of the occupied West Bank's Masafer Yatta by Israeli soldiers and the alliance which develops between the Palestinian activist Basel and Israeli journalist Yuval.

Selma, 12 and Elliot, 6 are in summer holiday. Selma is jealous of her little brother, because he is getting more attention from Mother. In the forest behind the house, there are wild animals. One evening, Selma tells Elliot that the neighbour has seen a bear just near the house. Selma watches Elliot's growing fascination for the forest, at the same time as she is yearning to get rid of him, since she always has to look after him. One evening she tells him again about the bears, and deliberately feeds his fascination. That night, Elliot sneaks out into the forest.

"Mother married a photo of Father," says director Firouzeh Khosrovani in the opening of this deeply personal documentary. She's not speaking metaphorically though. Her mother Tayi literally married a portrait of Hossein in Teheran -he was in Switzerland studying radiology and was unable to travel back to his homeland for the wedding. The event illustrates the abyss that still exists in their marriage: Hossein is a secular progressive and Tayi a devout, traditional Muslim.

In the heyday of the jute industry, millions of people in Bengal made their living doing this laborious work, which has hardly changed since the industrial revolution. The 100-year-old machinery has been endlessly repaired. State aid kept this sustainable alternative to plastic going, but its future looks bleak.
