In this short documentary, filmmaker Iris Grob looks behind the scenes of a large multinational that examines whether the presence of a dog can relieve the work stress. Can an office dog improve the atmosphere in the workplace and alleviate the workload? Or, on the contrary, will a dog in the building cause extra stress?

Everyone has to deal with loss at some point in life. And however large or small that loss may be, it always hurts. The three young children in this somewhat stylized film can attest to this, and they do, candidly and in detail. Their experiences are all different, as are their ways of dealing with them: whether it's losing a favorite stuffed animal, an important fencing tournament or an older sister. Fillmaker Arianne Hinz handles all of these losses with the seriousness they deserve. The children place the event in context, against the background of the places where the loss is felt most keenly: a tent made from blankets and towels, the gym where the fencing matches are held and the stables where the deceased sister’s favorite horse is kept. The children roam around in a dreamlike lost and found, looking for something that can illlustrate the sense of loss, that can fill the void or replace what is no more. But this is an impossible task: “A little piece of your heart is missing.”

While looking for old home movies in Amsterdam, filmmaker Wim van der Aar comes across a box of reel-to-reel tapes at a fleamarket. As Van der Aar starts to listen to these recordings the story of Guido van Waveren begins to unfold. The son of a once-wealthy and eccentric family who has become a recluse in Amsterdam and obsessively records his telephone conversations with his domineering mother and an old school friend. Using these tapes as a starting point Van der Aar tries to piece together Guido's life and fill in the blanks. He reconstructs his apartment on a sound stage, adds sensual images to some conservations and tries to find people who knew him. In a way, Van der Aar's film seems like a real-life version of Samuel Beckett's play 'Krapp's Last Tape' and deals with similar themes of isolation, longing and loneliness. Along with the documentary, one extra is included about the Van Waveren family.
