When Ana, a young compliance manager, discovers unusually high bills among her company's records, she can't imagine what an avalanche her research will set off. Not only does she cross paths with an aging small-time crook and a Viennese Mafia lord at an illegal bare-knuckle fight, she also runs into Carsten, an undercover investigator. He has long been on the trail of a network of money launderers and now faces a difficult decision — since he knows Ana all too well.

Abandoned by his girlfriend for a lack of qualities, Flo has to decide what to do and where to go next. By chance, he meets Leonie, who has a heart condition. She takes him on a journey: One heart broken, the other one damaged.

Together the two friends search for images and words that might help to come to terms with this strange, "fucked up" feeling.

Germany, 1970: Students Karl-Heinz and Hedi try to find a way to be together from across the Iron Curtain, with her in the East and him in the West. Under the pressure of the GDR’s secret police, Karl-Heinz can’t move to East Germany and eventually, Hedi has to leave the country. Her escape, disguised as a holiday trip to Romania, goes wrong in many ways.

In 1914, a tender, forbidden love blossoms between a new pupil and her young teacher in the middle of a military-run boarding school for girls. It soon develops into a passionate affair that shakes this fortress of patriarchy to its core.

In 2024 a private organization plans to send a group of four people to Mars. Paul Leeming and Pauls Irbins are both shortlisted candidates fort the planet's first human settlement. The mission is going to be a one-way trip.
