Summer in Berlin. Jonas is planning a trip through the little known area of the Uckermark in preparation for a photography project. He invites his best friend, Phillip, to come along. When they pick up a hitchhiker named Boris, the friendship of the two starts to fray. Maybe three’s a crowd after all? By the end of the summer, things between Jonas and Phillip won’t ever be the same again.

As every year Carlos is spending the summer in the country with his family in order to help out with things. Perhaps he won't even be returning to Madrid, as economic prospects are hardly rosy there. When the director Peter Voigt, former assistant director of Brecht at the Berliner Ensemble in 2004, finds a wallet with pictures and captions from the American exile, he pursued this track and discovered that Brecht has always worked with photography and film. Peter Voigt puts together an exciting collage of this film and photo material. A conversation with Erdmut Wizisla, the head of Bertolt Brecht Archives, moderated by Harald Müller, forms the dramatic bond of the film.

The anti-psychiatric Socialist Patients' Collective (SPK) was founded in Heidelberg in 1970 and attributed individual suffering to society’s capitalist structures. It began as a self-organised experiment in group therapy led by doctor Wolfgang Huber with psychiatric patients, featuring Hegel readings and individual agitation, before subsequently radicalizing, which ended in criminal proceedings against its members, some of whom went underground with the Red Army Faction.

For decades, Europeans between Finland and Cyprus were united by a promise of peace and greater prosperity. But since the financial crisis of 2008, the European project has been in its worst state since World War II. The continent is divided by neoliberal economic concepts, corruption, and banks that operate globally. Labor rights and social standards are being increasingly eroded, fueling ethnic hatred, class struggle, and nationalism, and driving people into the arms of right-wing populists. In Christoph Schuch's documentary "Europe – A Continent as Prey," important questions are raised about the problem, foremost among them, of course: How did it come to this? And how can we get out of this dangerous situation?
