Mysterious murders are haunting the city of Jyväskylä. Meanwhile a couple of teens are celebrating one's birthday but soon they get dragged into that mysterious murder case.

The messenger tells the story of the son of a history professor who died while working, who begins to uncover strange things about his father's past and research. From books, writings, and small pieces of information, the truth begins to emerge, a truth meant for only a few, but one that must be passed on. The message entrusted to the chosen messengers is greater than many human lives and so valuable that immeasurable sacrifices must be made. The Messenger is a combination of traditional and modern Finnish cinema.
