Clara, a lonely nurse from the outskirts of São Paulo, is hired by mysterious and wealthy Ana as the nanny for her unborn child. The two women develop a strong bond, but soon Clara discovers a terrifying secret about the child.

Summer 1900, Switzerland. Elisabeth, 17, is about to take her vows when the sudden death of her older sister forces her to leave the convent and return to the family farm. Two tales of migration. In the first, after a tailings dam disaster floods her hometown, rural worker Joana (55) moves to São Paulo to find her sister Tania, who lives with her grandson Jaime. Joana enters the universe of insecurity, replying to an application for house cleaning. She bonds with her colleagues, and their struggle for better conditions gives Joana’s life a new meaning. Her relationship with young Jaime brings back old memories. In the second part, after the death of her estranged father, Flavia (32) moves to her farm with her wife Mara. The couple suffer a shock of reality when facing the harshness of rural life. The contact with the abandoned house reveals to Flavia unknown aspects of her father. She begins to suspect that there is something supernatural in the woods.

Vincent, in his thirties, works on a night shift on the gigantic Grand Ciel construction site, a futuristic district. When a worker disappears, Vincent and his colleagues suspect the team leader of having hidden his body on the site. Soon Vincent witnesses strange manifestations on the construction site and, in turn, another worker disappears.

Twenty-year-old Anaïs works with her father on a farm that is struggling to keep operating. When their fertilizer distribution machine, borrowed from the farming cooperative, is stolen, Anaïs reacts, and fights in order to continue working, and to keep her father, on the brink of giving up and selling their farm, afloat. She also grows closer with a seasonal worker who she suspects is behind the robbery.

After the cremation of his father, Vincent and his family gather relatives in the back shop of the family butchery for a final tribute. Vincent announce to his family that he leaves for some time with his boyfriend Olivier.
